Nap time . . . on the floor!

So, I went to take a shower this afternoon and left Adam in charge of the kids. Crazy thing to do, I know but I have to shower sometime! :) Anyway, as I was getting out of the shower, Adam comes into the room and says "Just call me Hudini." I asked him why he said that and he preceded to tell me this story: Adam had been sitting on the floor holding Spencer and with Eva lying on his leg. Spencer had started to cry so Adam told Eva he had to get up and find Spencer's pacifier. She took him leaving amazingly well and stayed where she was. Daddy found Spencer's pacifier but decided it needed to be rinsed off before he gave it to him. So he went into the bathroom to rinse it, only to find the sink blocked by spencer's bathtub (we had just bathed him). So he put Spencer on the floor in Eva's room while he went back and emptied the baby bath and rinsed Spencer's pacifier. He then gave it to Spencer and that was the end of that. He said it wouldn't have worked so nicely if he had planned it. So I came out of the room to two sleeping children. Quite frankly, I would have left them there but we were on our way out the door so we had to move them both - what a bummer!

We had a blast at the ZOO!

April 26, 2008: We took a trip to Hogle Zoo and had a blast! We were limited somewhat on time so we didn't see everything we would have liked to but we did see elephants, rhinos, a white alligator, monkeys, a red panda, camels, llamas, peacocks, and my personal favorite, penguins.

This was Eva and Spencer's first trip to the Zoo and Eva enjoyed it very much. Eva's favorite thing at the zoo was the train. As soon as she heard there was a train that was all we heard about until we got on. It was so fun to see her so excited!!! Spencer of course could have cared less about any of it - he just "hung out" with Daddy! :) We all got a little sunburned but it was worth it.

We want to go back soon to the Zoo and to visit the "This is the Place" monument park. Hopefully we can go before it gets too hot and I melt outside!

Here is the group who went including 3 of my sisters and most of the cousins on my side of the family.

Boy they grow up fast!

This updated picture of our children (Eva and Spencer) wast taken on April 14, 2008. I can't believe how quickly they are growing and how much they are learning along the way. I am so grateful that I get to help them along their journey and I hope they aren't permanently damaged by their running crazy mother! I am going in all different directions these days and she gets a lot less attention than she would like. Eva is a beautiful little girl. She is stubborn and head strong. She knows what she wants and that is the way it will be or she will throw a fit. She is a big challenge to me, as her mother but she is helping me to grow and progress in many ways. Spencer is excercising his stomach muscle and sitting up from an inclined position. He knows how to smile and giggle but we don't get to hear it very often - we often say he is too serious. We hope he learns to laugh and giggle a little more as time goes on. He sleeps about 12 hours every night. We put him down at about 8 or 9 pm and he stays asleep until about 8:00 am most days. He loves to be held and babble at everyone. He is learning to use his hands to grab anything and everything (including hair!). He is a lot of fun. He is a very easy baby and we are grateful to have him.

Just like her Mother! :)

When I look at my little girl, the fact that she is mine isn't evident to me (don't get me wrong, I know she is! :)). To me, she doesn't look like Adam or me, she just looks like Eva. But, as you can see in this picture, Eva LOVES black olives. I LOVE black olives. There have been several times where the two of us will eat a whole can of them - and looking at her you wouldn't think she could put away that many olives but she eats about 1/2 and I eat about 1/2. Adam liked to play with them (put them on his fingers like Eva is here) but he didn't like to eat them. So when his parents told him he had to eat them if he was going to play with them, he stopped playing with them. Eva doesn't eat much but she will eat as many olives as you will let her have! :)

Introducing the next American Idol . . .

March 27, 2008: Eva knows the words to a lot of songs I didn't know she knew. As you can tell, she has no qualms about performing in front of people. She is a lot more outgoing and less camera shy than her Mother. She most have gotten it from her Daddy! :) This is Daddy's new favorite video.

Eva plays mommy

After I fed Spencer, Eva wanted to feed her baby so we let her. It was so cute - she did it just as I did. She even pretended to make macaroni & cheese for the baby. It was fun to watch want to be a mommy and take care of a baby. She is very cute with Spencer.

Spencer: Rice Cereal & 4 months old

We fed Spencer rice cereal for the first (and second) time this week. By his reaction I could tell he was less than impressed! :) He didn't want any of it and he doesn't know how to swallow it very well. He just mixed it with saliva and sent it back out the way it went in. So we are going to wait a couple of weeks to see how things go.
Spencer turned 4 months old yesterday! I can't believe he is getting so old. He turned over from front to back last Saturday and can turn halfway the other way. He is determined to get somewhere quick. He looks really small compared to other babies but he looks so big compared to when we brought him home from the hospital.
