We miss you Rubia!
Rubia decided she needed a break and is spending the summer out of the country! She hasn't been gone even a week and we miss her terribly! Spencer misses her a lot too - they are best buds. We are counting down the days until her return.
Rubia, we hope you are having a wonderful time but know that we all love and miss you!
Gymnastics
The day we took this picture, she was determined not to do what her teacher told her to do and just laid down on the balance beam. She got put on time out for it but it made for a cute picture, don't you think? :)

Antibiotics . . . can't cure everything!
So, we finally took Spencer and Adam to the doctor a couple of weeks ago. Eva and I were doing pretty well (or so we thought) but Spencer and Adam weren't getting better. The doc gave Adam and Spencer antibiotics and they started to get feeling pretty really soon.
So, I am feeling tons better but I still have a runny nose, a cough, and itchy eyes. I thought I couldn't have a runny nose on antibiotics but I think there is something else at work here. I think I may - even though I never have before - need some of this:
I, on the other hand, took a turn for the worse and finally took myself to the doctor on Monday. I had two migraines in a week and my head felt like it was going to explode from so much sinus pressure. Well, I have a sinus infection and an ear infection. They gave me one of these (in one of it's variations):
It gave me an allergic reaction so they gave me one of these (also in one of it's variations):

Easter 2009
This year was pretty low-key because all of us (but Rubia) were sick with varying symptoms but probably steming from the same source. Anyway, Adam stayed home with the Spencer and let me (and Eva) go to church to sing in sacrament meeting (with the choir) and teach our primary class (Valiant 9). Eva and I had a great time!
Because we were all sick, my mother, being the kind woman that she is, brough us Easter dinner! Wasn't that so nice! Yummy ham, potatoe salad, fruit salad, etc. Very yummy! Thanks, Mom! She couldn't stay and eat with us but we had Patricia, one of our friends from Portugal with us and we had some good times! Spencer decided to try eating with a utensil for the first time!
The Easter bunny didn't make it to our house this year but Eva and Spencer got baskets full of candy from Mom and Dad (who are still rationing out the candy!). Spencer doesn't eat much of it, and much to my surprise, the adults haven't really eaten his either.
Spencer demonstrated one of his new tricks on Sunday: getting stuff off the kitchen table by getting up on the chairs. Mom is really not fond of the new trick but hopefully he will get bored of it soon! :)
And, Daddy even got to practice the piano, which hasn't happened in a very, very, very long time!

Tissue, Tissues, Medicine, Tissues
What a week this has been! Eva has been sick all week long! She went to Preschool on Tuesday but she shouldn't have - she came home with a fever, very lethargic, fatigued, pale and grumpy. Mom was less than thrilled, as you might imagine. I kept thinking all week, tomorrow she will be better . . . tomorrow she will be better . . . but she never was. I think she is feeling a lot better today but I got sick on Thursday night and Spencer got sick Thursday afternoon. He is not doing very well. So all day long, we have tissues running around everywhere because both kids noses are running amuck! We are CONSTANTLY wiping someones nose so we have used A LOT of tissues! We have also used a lot of medicine. I haven't taken any for myself yet but I will tonight. We have used a TON for the kids. At nap time and at bedtime, they both get a round of infant or children's tylenol, vitamin C, homeopathics, vicks vapor rub, etc. They both like it - especially Eva. She asks for her medicine. I didn't give either of them any when they went to bed tonight so I hope they sleep ok. Don't know how much their poor livers can take. Pray for us so we can all get better because I have so much work to get done and having everyone sick is definitely not helping me get it done! :(

My little girl likes structure
Eva likes organization and things she can count on (so does her mother!). I have been meaning to set up some routines for morning time and bedtime so she knows what she is supposed to be doing. I have been meaning to do this for about two years now but I am a little slow! :) I finally did it a couple weeks ago and it has been working great. I found pictures off the internet and the Behold Your Little Ones nursery manual and made cards showing what she is supposed to do and in what order. I taped them to her closet door (see attached photos). It has been working wonders! I tell her to check her closet door and tell me what we need to do next and she does it. She also lets us know if we skip something (she doesn't want to be jipped!). Now she doesn't throw a fit about brushing her teeth or reading scriptures because it is part of her routine! :) Brilliant! I should have gotten around to it much sooner!!!!!

We are still alive!
I know that we kind of dropped off the face of the planet lately but life is extremely busy! I will return to the blogosphere hopefully soon! Until then, know that we are alive and well.
