Tia Rubia & the kids

I don't know if all of you know this or not but my great friend, Rubia Fagundes, has been living with us almost two years now. We love having her with us and have greatly enjoyed watching our children interact with her and her friends. She has been with us for the majority of Eva's life and all of Spencer's. So they know and love her very much. There seems to be a special bond between Spencer and Rubia - he talks and smiles with her more than he does with anyone else - including me. :( She is from Brazil - Rio Grande do Sul - and is a great cook! We look forward to her wonderful rice and beans and salmon. She teaches Portuguese at BYU and in fact, that is how I met her. She was my roommate in the Portuguese house - she taught me all the Portuguese I know! :) So she has put up with me from even before Adam and I started dating! She is a saint! Rubia is one of those people you are always grateful God put in your path. We love her and thank Heavenly Father for her frequently. Everyone should have a Rubia in their lives - if you don't have one, I might be bribed to share her just a little! :)

Happy Easter!!!

Happy Easter one and all! I hope it was a wonderful Sunday for all of you. We, at the Rushforth house, had a beautiful day. The weather was perfect and the atmosphere in our home was wonderful - the Spirit was there to remind us of the true meaning of Easter. I am sure Adam and Eva would join me in saying we are so grateful for our Saviour, Jesus Christ. We know that He lived here on this earth, that he set a perfect example for us, that he was beaten and suffered for us. We also know that He now lives. We are so grateful for His resurrection and for His love. Because of His atonement, we are able to repent of our sins and come back to our Heavenly Father. Because He lived again, we too will live again. I am so grateful for Him.

Saturday Night with Family

March 15, 2008:

Saturday night we had a special program and birthday celebration at the church for Grandma. We all wore matching T-shirts that said "AHR (Adelia Hall Rushforth) None Better". It was fun for me to be a part of the Rushforth clan - I was very proud of the family I married into and Grandma Dee is an amazing woman. I am so glad I was able to meet her and that my children have come to know and love her as well.

It was great to see my immediate in-laws as well. My kids love to see their grandparents from Las Vegas and their cool aunts and uncles. I think Eva had a grand old time getting to know her Arizona cousins. Every time we would leave an activity to go back to the hotel she would start to cry until we told her we would get to play with them in a little while. Then she would be happy and come with us quietly. :)

One of the coolest parts of the night was watching all the great grandkids sing "A Bushel and A Peck". They tried it twice and the second time was definitely better than the first. Her is the second rendition.

Bouncin' off the Walls

We spent last weekend up in Fruit Heights for Grandma DD's 90th birthday! It was great to see all of Adam's immediate and extended family. On Saturday, we all got to play at a place called Bouncin' off the Walls and we had a blast - Eva didn't want to leave! She went down the slide about a million times and just kept going back up. I knew she liked slides but sheesh! :)

Grandma DD held little Spencer for me so Adam and I could play a little too. Thank you Grandma! Our little family had a great time, thanks to you!

"Let's go night-night!"

A new tradition has been started in the Rushforth home: we play bus in the kitchen. Eva loves to make the bus and go to lunch or dinner or night-night or whatever we have to do next. What fun! We enjoy it too - even though it might not look like it in this video. We all have sore throats and coughs so we aren't as enthusiastic as we normally are.

Spencer is 3 months old!

Spencer turned 3 months old on February 29, 2008. I can't believe he is so big already! Not having a newborn anymore makes me baby hungry! :)

Here Spencer is with his great friend Rubia Fagundes. She lives with us and helps me with Spencer all the time. He loves to tell her (in conversational noises) all about his life and what he did that day. He sounds like he is complaining - just like Eva did when she was his age. "Mom made me wait for my food and she left me in the swing while she made dinner! I was so lonely!" I am sure that is about what he is saying! :) He seems to like the sound of Portuguese so Rubia speaks to him all the time. Maybe he will grow up to learn Portuguese - who knows. That would be great!

He is starting to suck on his hand instead of the pacifier and Mommy doesn't like it very much. But hopefully he won't make a long habit of it.

Spencer is an absolute joy to have around and I am so grateful that Heavenly Father blessed me with an easy baby.

Eva's BIG Bike

January 10, 2008: This is Adam's favorite video that we have taken thus far. He gets a kick out of it every time he watches it and he also likes to show it to people so I thought I would share it with all of you. We received an excercise bicycle for Christmas and Eva loves to sit on it but can't run it herself . . . so Daddy has to help her out. It is cute to see her on such a big bike! :)
